Description: Covid has had a tremendous impact on society beyond its health effects. Researchers, policymakers, and funders are concerned about the possibility of a new epidemic of a similar scale. Low- and middle-income countries are especially vulnerable. Using Brazil as a case study, we conduct a nationally representative survey experiment with a twofold objective: (1) to understand whether particular public health policies for past waves of COVID-19 would likely be met with similar or different public responses in the case of a new strain of the same disease or a new disease with a similar epidemiological profile; and (2) to help policymakers better prepare for the case of a possible new pandemic
