Wiki Version:
This author group is using the OSF to coordinate our writing efforts for the EAMMi2 Special Issue submission. By Creating separate Introduction and Method sections, different authors can focus on different portions of the manuscript. *When managing file/version control.* **Let OSF track FILE/VERSION CONTROL:** The American Dream authors will do the following this. When downloading the manuscript, use the checkout function. To do this, you will check it out, then download it. Once you have, no one else can edit it till you check it back in. In this way, other authors know you are editing. When re-saving the manuscript, do not change the name of the file. the OSF will track versions for us. **USE DROPBOX**: Other groups could use the connect to Dropbox feature so that when people edit, they can save directly to dropbox. or if they are uploading the file, it will go directly to everone's dropbox that has access to that folder. **USE GOOGLE.DOC:** other groups could connect their project to google.doc links. In this way, all edits are immediately saved and there is no need to worry about saving documents. you cannot see our work, which is another nice feature of the OSF, but I'll tell you that we currently have components called (**background literature**, **manuscript draft**). On the **background literature** component, where we are sharing .pdfs of studies for our introduction. on the **manuscript draft** component, we are sharing .doc files for the introduction, method, planned analysis, references. in the future, we will put our **analysis file**s on another component. script can be uploaded directly to the osf as a supplement to manuscript submission. I will add other instructions on how to use the OSF for writing on the special issue if they should arise.
