Description: Many scientific fields are experiencing a reproducibility crisis, in which many hypothesis-driven studies are failing to replicate. Poor reproducibility has been linked to several factors, but one of the most pertinent issues is a lack of pre-registered studies. The primary goal of pre-registration is that it allows others to transparently assess the degree to which a given test can falsify a prediction, which is also known as the severity of a test. Research designs and tests that have a high capacity to falsify predictions are more likely to yield more credible results that will replicate in the future. In this workshop, I will provide an overview of pre-registration, address common misconceptions, and demonstrate practical steps for pre-registering studies. This workshop will be divided into two sections. The first section will include an introductory talk on pre-registration followed by a plenary discussion. The second section will include a hands-on series of activities on pre-registering research studies using Open Science Framework. Talk and Workshop delivered on 4 February, 2022
