Description: Synthetic cannabinoids (SCBs) are emerging drugs of abuse sold as “K2” or “Spice”. There is evidence that use of SCBs products leads to greater health risks relative to cannabis. It has been associated with greater toxicity and higher addiction potential unrelated with the primary psychoactive component of marijuana, Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC). Moreover, early cases of addiction and death related to SCBs reported highlight the inherent danger that may accompany the use of these substances. There is limited knowledge of the toxicology of Spice ingredients. This systematic review intends to analyze the toxicity of SCBs compounds present in Spice/K2 drugs.
