Description: In the current research, we consider how frequently self-expansion behaviors occur in the presence of various social groups, whether self-expansion in each context contributes to romantic relationship quality, and whether group self-expansion may be particularly beneficial for those experiencing lower relationship quality. Finally, we examine how the proportion of time spent with one’s romantic partner engaging in various types of activities (self-expansion, household chores, communication, and physical affection) is associated with relationship satisfaction and commitment.
