Wiki Version:
The purpose of this OSF project is to establish a clearinghouse of CT scan data that is available under an Open Access model. This will reduce the duplicative scanning that plagues the field of morphology and will serve as a springboard for meta-analyses that are otherwise impossible. We expect bioengineers will find these data particularly useful as they prospect for inspirational biological models for new materials and technologies. These data are also freely available for the general public, K-12 teachers, and instructors in higher education. A primary source of data is that generated by the [SkyScan 1173 Micro CT scanner][1] at the Karel F. Liem Biovisualization Center at the University of Washington's Friday Harbor Laboratories. Other contributors have scanned material from scanners around the world. As we get archival data on line the cartialginous fishes in particular represent data from more than a dozen scanners. The data are offered for use by our colleagues and the general public for scientific and educational purposes. If you are interested in working with these data and posting the results of your manipulations please get in touch with [Adam P. Summers][2] about getting access to post data. If all you want are printable STLs we will post a few that have been tested here at [Printable Models][3]. We have scanned : - [Mammals][4] - [Fishes][5] - Fossils - [Squamates][6] [1]: https://www.bruker.com/products/x-ray-diffraction-and-elemental-analysis/x-ray-micro-ct/skyscan-1173/technical-details.html [2]: mailto:fishguy@uw.edu [3]: https://osf.io/ecmz4/wiki/Printable%20models/ [4]: https://osf.io/ecmz4/wiki/Mammals/ [5]: https://osf.io/ecmz4/wiki/Fishes/ [6]: https://osf.io/ecmz4/wiki/Squamates/
