This repository is a companion to the preprint *Contrasting symbolic and non-symbolic numerical representations in a joint classification task.*
The aim of this experiment was to investigate whether symbolic and non-symbolic numerals interacted with the SNARC effect when both pieces of information were presented simultaneously.
Here you can find processed data, manuscript figures, and the analysis script.
To run the analysis, download the DvN_manuscript_analysis into your working directory. To know what your working directory is, run the command getwd() in the R studio command line. Download DvN_manuscript_analysis into this location.
The main analysis and figures are created using the DvN_SNARC.Rmd script. This is an R markdown file and contains individual chunks of code that do different bits of analysis. A chunk will look a little bit like this in R Studio:
```
This is a chunk
This is some code in the chunk
```
We recommend you run each individual chunk separately so you don't create lots of output without understanding what the output means. Start by running the packages drunk so you have all available packages to run the analysis.
Run each chunk, in order, by clicking the green arrow in top right corner of the chunk. Any output will be generated before the chunk.
There are comments throughout the script to aid anyone looking through the code. Figures should be generated and saved into the Figures folder within the main DvN_manuscript_analysis folder. So if you make changes to figures, they will be shown there.
