Wiki Version:
According to Bar's model (2005), early extraction and process of low spatial frequency information would facilitate visual recognition by a top-down mecanism based on prediction. Predictive coding abnormalities have been suggested in autistic population (Gomot & Wicker, 2012). It may be explained by an imbalanced weights allowed to top-down processes (from cognition to perception) versus bottom-up. Autistic people have a more detailed oriented vision, based on high spatial frequency content, than non autistic people; they also have difficulties in emotionnal face processing. We hypothesized emotional proactive brain impairment during visual processing in autism spectrum disorder. To test it, we proposed an emotionnal stroop task to autistic adults as well as a control group. We will compare their reaction time and their correct response rate.
