Wiki Version:
Heglyn Pimenta is a Temporary Research Assistant and Assistant Lecturer (ATER) at the University of Tours, in France, and currently associated with the research unit *Imagerie et cerveau* (UMR 1253 iBrain). Her research covers theoretical phonology, Romance phonology (namely Portuguese) and, most recently, typical and atypical language development. She takes into account diachronic evolution, synchronic data from both standard and non-standard varieties and experimental data. In this contribution, she analyses dialectological data of lexical nasal vowels diphthongization in European Portuguese (EP), and claims that it points towards an asymmetry between elements |I| and |U|, |I| being less sonorous than |U|.
