Description: This repository contains data and computer code (Jupyter notebook with Python) used to plot Figure 6.1. Global migration networks in Danchev, V and Porter, M. Migration networks: applications of network analysis to macroscale migration patterns. To appear as Chapter 6 in Research Handbook on International Migration and Digital Technology, edited by Marie McAuliffe, Edward Elgar, 2021. To create the figure and plot the global migration networks in 1960 and 2000, we used data from Özden et al.'s (2011) Global Bilateral Migration Database (GBMD). For visualisations of the global migration network using the GBMD, see also Danchev and Porter (2018) and Danchev (2015).
