## Unconference on Open Science in Education Research 2021 ## ---------- The 2021 unconference will feature participant-led sessions analyzing the current state of open scholarship practice and interactive hackathons seeking solutions to identified problems. Participants will assess barriers to adoption of open scholarship practices unique to the education community and brainstorm strategies for promoting greater awareness. - [See the Live Program Here][1] - Propose a session or reserve a zoom room on the #unconference portion of the [Slack channel][2] [Registration for the unconference][3] is free and no previous experience with unconferences or hackathons is required to participate. Don't miss the opportunity to be a part of this field-leading conversation to address unique barriers to adoption for education research. The unconference will include engaging plenary sessions to orient attendees to open scholarship and introduce tools and best practices for open research in education. Deep dives into key principles of open scholarship will provide detailed guidance for education researchers. ---------- ### How to Engage and Communicate in the Unconference ### - **Most of the engagement will be through Zoom rooms.** Please see the [schedule][4] for links to each session's room. - Use the [Slack Channel][5] **zoom-room-reserve** for planning new sessions and asking for a zoom space. - Use the other Slack channels for general conference discussion. - **Use [Gather.Town][6] for casual conversations or overflow sessions if unconference conversations.** - **Twitter** Use the [#OSPER2021][7] for the event ---------- #### Listening Sessions #### An hour long session on the first morning to share barriers you've encountered with open science initiatives and to start focusing our thoughts toward solutions. [Link to Listening Session doc][8]. #### Unconference Sessions #### A group discussion designed to reach consensus on a topic or generate a plan of action. #### Hackathons #### Participants work together on a defined task for one to three hours. Letter writing campaigns, creating syllabi, designing a study or proposal. #### Workshops #### Teach a hands on lesson and leave with something you can use. #### Lightning Talks #### Present on a topic in five minutes or less. ### Helpful Links ### - [Tips on using using Gather.Town][9] and a highlight of the platform's functionality.
