News Lists - News - "full_news_list_step_0.csv" - the 2019 updated list of news websites from Athey et al with foreign sites added - "news_domains_categorized_step_1.csv" - the list list of news domains and their categories from Athey et al - "news_domains_categorized_step_2.csv" - the list of hard news domains created by filtering out all soft news domains from the original list - "top_nielsen_news_domains_step_3.csv" - the list of the top 1000 Nielsen news domains that we attempt find matches for in the ComScore data - - Fake News - "fake_news_list.csv" - the list of fake news sites as well as their designation (fake / hyperpartisan_junk) - Other - "matched_sites_with_labels.csv" - the list of that we track via ComScore matches and their labels (news, fake, hyperpartisan, social, search, portal) - "top_domains_category_label_avg_mins_UPDATE.csv" - The list of the top 2000 domains according to ComScore, as well as their category (social media, news, entertainment, etc.) and the average time spent per user per month for each domain. Updated 2023/05/21. The previous file mislabeled the column as "daily average minutes" when it should have read "monthly average minutes."
