Description: The current study investigates perception-production transfer through the lens of dimension-based statistical learning. Participants passively listened to a short sequence of acoustically variable minimal pair (beer/pier) speech segments conveying either an accent or typical English acoustics, made a perceptual judgment to an ambiguous test stimulus and then repeated the test stimulus. Ourresults indicate that the mapping of acoustics to speech categories is rapidly adjusted by short-term input regularities experienced across passive listening and that these adjustments transfer robustly to speech production, regardless of sex.
