Description: Outness (the degree to which one is 'out of the closet') has been reliably associated with mental health outcomes in sexual minorities, but theoretical challenges emerge when studying the topic in transgender and gender diverse (TGD) populations. The proposed scoping review will synthesize theoretical and operational definitions of TGD outness, assess whether the unique research needs of the population have been met, and highlight areas in need of revision.
