Description: From the literature reviewed, it may be true that acoustic correlates to gender perception have been masked by thinly defined demographic characteristics of the listeners (perceivers) and affected by the samples those listeners are tested on. Therefore we have the following questions for our scoping review. Results from our scoping review may change methodological approaches to gender perception studies and clinical recommendations in the future. What are commonly employed tools or methodologies used to assess gender perception in speech? What demographic characteristics of listeners have been collected in studies investigating gender perception in speech? To what extent have studies accounted for variations in English dialects when studying gender perception? To what extent have studies accounted for matching variations in English dialects across listeners and speech samples? What types of speech samples have been utilized to investigate gender perception in speech research?
