Description: There is a research gap regarding the potential of education as a gatekeeper to reduce recidivism, and more specifically, how special educational support might serve within this overarching goal of our criminal and justice system. We know there is an unexploited potential regarding educational services within the correctional system. This stems from the fact that the schools in prison does not offer special education services to prisoners, at the same time as many prisoners have both diagnosed and undiagnosed learning disorder that prevents them from participating in or receiving an adequate learning outcome. This despite the fact that many inmates want to complete education while serving their sentences, and that it may be particularly important for inmates with learning disorders to complete their education in order to set them up for success upon release. The current project aims to investigate how education within prison can contribute to reducing recidivism amongst prisoners
