Description: The majority of undergraduates who earn a Bachelor’s in Psychology (87%) do not go on to obtain higher degrees in psychology. Most psychology majors join the workforce after graduation, with data showing careers in 89 different occupational categories. These span many sectors including government, private (both for-profit and non-profit), educational, and self-employment. Common jobs include those in business, human resources, management, sales and marketing, healthcare, teaching, social service, research, science, and engineering. This Student Breakout Session is aimed at students who want to learn about their options outside of graduate school, and faculty who want to better understand how to advise and mentor these students. The session will include a short presentation followed by breakout discussion groups based on workplace areas of interest. Handouts and moderators will facilitate table discussions, then we will return to the whole group for final thoughts.
