Description: In this project, we are developing a set of indicators to assess the theoretical rigor of a research output. The development and testing of theories plays a crucial role in all sciences and is a main driver for scientific progress. Our indicators are developed as part of the RESQUE framework of responsible research assessment (https://resque-framework.github.io/website/), and aim to incentivize theory-guided work in academic hiring and promotion. The indicators assess both, development and testing of theories and can be applied to narrative as well as formal theories.
