Wiki Version:
**Description:** This project is motivated by the realization that academic papers often lack important details regarding the educational systems for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in the countries where the participants live. This absence of information poses a few challenges: Incomplete understanding of educational contexts. The absence of essential details about the educational systems where research is conducted limits the readers' ability to grasp the whole picture of those educational environments. Readers, including fellow researchers, policymakers, and educators, require comprehensive insights into the structures, practices, and policies of different educational systems to understand and interpret research findings accurately. Lack of acknowledgment of the importance of contextual specificity. Recognizing and acknowledging the nuances and variations within educational systems across countries are crucial for valid and reliable research. Each educational system has its unique policies, practices, and cultural influences that shape students' experiences and outcomes. Failing to consider these contextual differences might compromise the accuracy and relevance of research findings when applied to other settings or when making broader conclusions about educational practices and interventions. Within the field of education and policy, numerous organizations contribute to publication and dissemination of research, data collection, and policy analysis, each with slightly distinct focuses. Among them are the European Agency for Special Needs and Inclusive Education (EASNIE), Eurydice, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). EASNIE, an independent agency within a European network of agencies, focuses on advocating inclusive education for students with diverse needs and disabilities within Europe. Its primary contributions include informing national policy priorities on inclusive and equitable education, along with providing statistics regarding students with SEND and school enrolment. Eurydice operates as a collaborative network between the European Commission and member states, primarily focusing on delivering comprehensive information about education systems and policies across European countries. Its extensive scope encompasses various aspects of education, extending beyond inclusive education. Eurydice's key outputs include descriptions of national education systems, comparative studies on specific educational topics, and the provision of indicators and statistics spanning the broader educational landscape. OECD, an international organization addressing multifaceted policy areas beyond education, engages in a wide-ranging spectrum of work encompassing economic, social, environmental, and governance-related issues worldwide. Its overarching objectives are to shape policies promoting prosperity, equality, opportunity, and well-being as well as to establish evidence-based international standards to address a diverse array of social, economic, and environmental challenges. Despite the existence of several reports outlining and comparing educational systems in diverse countries, they are often not easily accessible due to their format, extensive length, and use of technical language generally used by policy makers rather than by researchers. These barriers limit their analysis and effective utilization within the research community and highlight the need for this project. **Aims of the project:** This project aims to describe the educational school system in different countries with the aim to highlight the impact of diverse educational systems and the role of contextual factors in educational research, especially when implementing educational interventions for students with SEND. Additionally, it aims to equip researchers with tools to deepen their comprehension of educational systems across different countries. The focus of this project includes: - Understanding the structure of educational school systems in different countries. - Exploring the conceptualization and the processes of decision of SEND, emphasizing the involvement of key stakeholders in the official decision-making process and the documents required. - Analyzing the national educational curriculum designed for students with SEND. By providing insights into these areas, this project seeks to empower researchers to effectively assess the impact of research findings and educational interventions across varied national educational landscapes and to support their critical analyses.
