Description: This registration contains the protocol for a systematic review on the application of experience sampling methodology (ESM) to measure anhedonia in daily life. The primary research questions of the systematic review are: 1) How is anhedonia conceptualised and explicitly measured using ESM in psychiatry and mental health?; and 2) Does anhedonia fluctuate over time in daily life (within-person) and are these fluctuations related to psychopathology (between-person)? The review will contribute to ongoing efforts in the ESM field to advance methodological rigor and to facilitate the development (and use) of reliable and valid items to assess anhedonia in daily life.
