Description: Access to the publisher's version of the manuscript can be found at: https://bpspsychub.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/bjhp.12558. After receiving personalized risk estimates (see description of multiple disease risk communication in the above component), participants listened to an audiorecording that used mental imagery to guide them in developing goals related to physical activity or sleep hygiene behaviors and in making plans for achieving the goals. Participants received text message reminders to complete the mental imagery for 3 weeks post-intervention. They also completed 4 weekly surveys by text message to assess behavior and imagery and goal-related constructs, and a mailed survey 90 days post-baseline to assess long-term behavior change. To limit participant burden, the text message surveys included only items related to the participant’s assigned mental imagery topic (i.e., physical activity or sleep hygiene).
