Wiki Version:
[Aiolochroia crassa](http://species-identification.org/species.php?species_group=caribbean_diving_guide&id=430) is a common sponge species found on FL reefs. Reference transcriptome resources are necessary for developing diagnostic biomarkers to measure changes in physiological state. To date, there are only 24 nucleotide records found from this species on NCBI. This adds to the nucleic acid sequencing data available for this species. Samples from six colonies of Aiolochroia crassa were collected off Fort Lauderdale, FL in May 2012. RNAseq data were collected from pooled samples (n=18) in each treatment group (4 groups) following an acute exposure experiment to 100 ppm crude WAF (Water accomodated fraction) oil and 10 ppm dispersant (Corexit 9500A, Nalco). | Treatment | Description | N | | --------- | ----------- | -- | | OD | oil, dispersant | 18 | | OC | oil, no dispersant | 18 | | UD| no oil, dispersant | 18 | | UC| no oil, no dispersant | 18 |
