Wiki Version:
Enhancing Student Success: Developing Alternative Textbooks and Resources Sponsored by the UNC System's University Library Advisory Council this full-day event focused on the power of Open Educational Resources. Attendees supporting course design and course materials from any of the UNC-system schools participated, including librarians, instructional designers, bookstore staff, administrators, and others. Planned speakers provided the opportunity to learn about the impact of open or affordable resources on student success, to learn from successful UNC Institutions who have implemented open or affordable resources, to hear about potential venues for producing and sharing open resources, and to participate in a hands-on workshop to learn about effective ways to encourage or facilitate the use of open educational resources at their institutions. Additionally, Jeff Gallant, program manager for Affordable Learning Georgia, spoke on how a system-wide commitment to open education works to benefit students.
