Description: Background: Impaired glucose control & Insulin resistance are reported to be risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases. In the Indian population, Insulin resistance is one of the strong reasons for altered glycemic control, even though exercise training is found to be effective in glycemic control along with standard medical care. There is a dearth of literature on the effectiveness of exercise training on insulin resistance and quality of life in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus. Objective: To determine the effects of a structured exercise program on insulin resistance, glycaemic control, functional capacity, and quality of life in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus.
