Whether we are talking public health wise or socioeconomically - hearing loss has a considerable impact, with a global prevalence of about five percent with another billion individuals expected to be affected by hearing loss due to unhealthy listening habits by 2050 (WHO, 2017). This is a frightening number. WHO recommends hearing prevention, screening and other early stage measures being put in place to identify individuals with unhealthy listening habits and to offer suitable rehabilitation at an early stage. Our research group has created a digital educational program comprising videos, knowledge-based text and quizzes, all focusing on sustaining healthy hearing. The aim of this study is to evaluate this prevention-program that will be applied online via a national care-guide platform. Outcome measures will be deployed before and after the intervention, as well as six and twelve months after. Research have shown that individuals suffering from hearing loss have more hazardous listening habits than individuals without hearing loss. With this in mind, two groups will be recruited: one targeting the general public and one targeting individuals suffering from hearing loss. Our goals and hopes are to be able to influence the perceived knowledge of hearing and prevention within our test groups. The aim of this presentation is to present our projects outlines and progression so far, including considerations in choosing what material to use, and the clinical application beyond our course, and the need for more preventive measures to take steps closer to a healthy hearing.
