Description: a) Time required until solution, b) solution success for the extinction trial: binary variable coding whether the solution has been found (1) or not found (0) after a limit of 180 seconds, c) solution type in the critical trial, i.e. whether the direct solution A – C or the Einstellung solution B – A – 2C is chosen. Main comparisons focus on the indicators for the extinction trial which is presented identically to all experimental conditions. For additional analyses: codings of solution processes in the verbal protocols, e.g., solution attempts starting with “jug B” are coded as Einstellung solution attempts.
