Description: This project contains the material for the course "Fundamentals: Becoming better at explaining and understanding". It is a "hands on" course on scientific theory development. It takes students from figuring out which effects/phenomena/findings they would like to explain with a theory, through verbally describing and formalizing their theory, to deriving hypotheses and designing experiments to test their theories. I typically teach this course as a Honours Programme course for bachelor students (from any program) at the UvA and VU in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. With slight adjustments, I also teach this course at the (post)graduate level. Slides from the first lecture are missing, because this is typically a guest lecture and thus not mine to share. All images have been removed from the lectures, because I forgot which were rights free and I did not have the time to figure this out and find rights-free replacements,
