Description: This project outlines a protocol for a systematic review aimed at evaluating the impact of robotic rehabilitation on upper limb functionality in children with cerebral palsy. Objective: To evaluate the effects of robotic therapy on upper extremity function in children with cerebral palsy compared to traditional physical therapy. Population: Children from 4 to 18 years of age diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Excluded are those receiving combined treatments or undergoing pharmacological interventions in conjunction with robotic therapy. (expanded to 0-18 years) Intervention: Robotic rehabilitation using exoskeletons or end-effectors, aimed at improving sensorimotor and cognitive processes. Comparator: Traditional, non-robotic physical therapy methods. Outcomes: 1) Primary outcome: Improvement in upper limb functionality. 2) Additional outcomes: Reduced spasticity, decreased pain, and enhanced social engagement. Methodology: Data Sources: PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and PEDro. Study Design: Randomized controlled trials. (expanded to all study design that implement robotic rehabilitation protocols for the upper limb recovery, excluding those involving only a single session, theoretical models, methodological approaches, algorithms, basic technical descriptions, conference proceedings and review. Data Analysis: Reviewers will resolve disagreements through discussion; no meta-analysis is planned. Review Timeline: Start Date: October 31, 2023. Anticipated Completion Date: October 31, 2024. Conflicts of Interest: None declared. Funding: No external funding.
