Wiki Version:
Good morning all, Amanda, Emily, and I are looking forward to meeting you! A few quick reminders, if you have not yet already done so, to please do the following before the FORCE11 Scholarly Communications Institute (FSCI) 2020 begins next week. Each one of you confirmed consent to share your email address and name with class participants. Consent is needed before I share your contact information with other class participants. There are other class participants as well on this email, and you will meet everyone soon. Some of our Zoom sessions (the second and fourth) will be recorded for use in different time zones. If you do not wish to be recorded, then please turn off your computer’s camera. Since these sessions will be recorded, in order to participate synchronously consent is important. Please let us know as soon as possible in a separate email if you have any requests for accessibility accommodations so that we can secure the necessary support from the Force11 team. We will be using a private group space on the Open Science Framework (OSF) as a course module for restricted-access reading materials and other works. You will need an OSF sign-in. This should have been requested with your FSCI registration. Everyone has contributor access to the class OSF portal https://osf.io/a3y8v/. If you have not already, then please check your access to OSF to ensure you have access to the portal. You will need access in order to read and download particular files for the course. If there are any questions or problems, please contact Amanda, Emily, or me. Complete as much of the pre-class work you are able. Completing this work will make a more enriching experience. We understand, however, that you may not be able to do so before the course and would like to assure you that all work is optional. a. Skim the readings and materials listed on the syllabus under the Suggested Readings section (there are subfolders corresponding to sessions 1, 2, and 4). Openly available readings are linked from the syllabus and copyright-restricted readings covered under fair use for this course are available via the OSF class portal. b.
