Self-correction is one of the hallmarks of a scientific disciplines. And yet, psychology’s record of self-correction is spotty at best. This hackathon builds on the self-correction unconference (freewheeling discussion) from 2017 that rapidly evolved into a hack-a-thon (concrete, actionable objectives). The 2018 hack-a-thon will briefly review those objectives, continue with a freewheeling brainstorming session where we will generate additional ideas, and settle on choosing a small number of actionable items, focusing especially on low-hanging fruit – goals that are both easy to accomplish and likely to be influential. We will then break out into groups to begin working towards accomplishing those specific goals. We hope to begin implementing those plans, and to have developed action plans to advocate for, encourage, and advance self-correction in psychological science beyond this hack-a-thon.
