Description: One step toward facilitating widespread use of open science practices is to encourage departments to work to integrate open and reproducible science into their curricula and culture—in addition to their research. In this hackathon, we will work together to 1) identify reasons that departments may be resistant to systematically implementing open science practices; 2) brainstorm ways to overcome the concerns raised in step 1; 3) collect resources and perspectives that may be useful for individuals to bring to their departments; and 4) flesh out all of these into an open resource which will be made available to online at FORRT, which is a grassroots educational initiative aiming at supporting teachers and mentors in addressing the pedagogical challenges ensuing from combining openness and reproducibility into courses.
