Description: Here we investigate the mechanical and fracture properties of Gale crater analog lithologies in an effort to understand the parameters that affect fracture formation. Our project includes several components: (1) We use experimental test techniques to determine the mechanical properties of analog rocks, (2) We use finite element (FE) models to predict crack growth, (3) We utilize global sensitivity analysis (GSA) techniques to understand the parameters that affect fracture propagation, (4) We utilize uncertainty quantification (UQ) to understand the error in efforts to predict rock properties on Mars. Below are raw datasets associated with (1) experimental testing, (2) FE modeling results, (3) GSA results, and (4) UQ results.
