In working on solutions, we focused on drafting a Reviewer Role Taxonomy to assist authors, reviewers and editors in the process of interdisciplinary peer review. The summary of our session outcomes further includes a list points to add to reviewer checklists, a list of existing literature, and further tips to authors, reviewers and editors. We have also started making a (very preliminary) whitelist of journals that have handled interdisciplinary review well, and collected first ideas for using digital technologies to improve peer review.
