German Version of the Behavioral, Emotional, and Social Skills Inventory (BESSI-G)
-------------
What is BESSI-G?
This project documents the development and validation of the German Version of the Behavioral, Emotional, and Social Skills Inventory (BESSI-G). BESSI-G is the German adaptation of BESSI, a novel inventory that measures 32 socio-emotional skill facets with 6 items each (i.e., 192 items in total). The English-language source version of BESSI is documented here in a separate OSF project (Soto et al., 2021). The project is run by GESIS – Leibniz-Institute for the Social Sciences, Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology, and the authors of the original English-language source version of BESSI (see "Contributors"): Clemens Lechner, Marion Spengler, Thomas Knopf, Beatrice Rammstedt, Ulrich Trautwein, Christopher Napolitano, Brent Roberts, and Christopher Soto.
Where do I find BESSI-G?
The validation study of BESSI-G is now published open access at Journal of Intelligence Lechner, C. M., Knopf, T., Napolitano, C., Rammstedt, B., Roberts, B., Soto, C. J., & Spengler, M. (2022). Journal of Intelligence, 10(3), 6.; https://doi.org/10.3390/jintelligence10030063 You also find BESSI-G here in the OSF archive.
Can I use BESSI-G?
You are free to use BESSI-G under a CC BY NC license. The most recent (published) version is v0.3. Although the inventory (instructions, items, response scale) is final, the German labels for the 32 facets and 5 domains may still change in the future. Should you decide to use BESSI-G v0.2... - please cite the paper in the Journal of Intelligence - we would appreciate if you share your data with us in fully anonymized form so we can use it to further improve BESSI-G - your data donation will be much appreciated!
