Description: Much research into kinship discrimination uses facial morphology as a cue to kinship. In this project we explore the potential for the human voice to carry kinship information that may be used to judge the similarity in voices between individuals. This experiment is a follow up to our first experiment (pre-registered here: https://osf.io/tzav6/) which investigated whether individuals can discriminate between kin pairs and non kin pairs. Similarly to Experiment 1, this project uses the methods originally outlined by Maloney & Dal Martello (2006) with updated analysis outlined by Hansen, DeBruine & Fasolt (in prep, pre-registered at: https://osf.io/ps9hy/) . We altered the original methodology by replacing facial stimuli with vocal samples from full same-sex siblings and long term friendship pairs.
