Zoom meeting to talk to the authors (March 20, 12-2 pm Eastern Time): https://ucsc.zoom.us/j/415397356 Meeting ID: 415 397 356 Abstract: We outline the structure of a cognitively realistic semantic processor: a parser that can incrementally construct semantic representations. The constructed semantic representations are Discourse Representation Structures (DRS, see Kamp 1981; Kamp and Reyle 1993), similar to mental models in the sense of Johnson-Laird (1983, 2004). We show the workings of the semantic parser by accounting for the reaction time (RT) data in the fan experiment reported in Anderson (1974). This is the first (to our knowledge) fully implemented and cognitively realistic model of incremental interpretation and truth evaluation that is systematically informed by formal semantics and can model RT data.
