Description: This is a registration for a scoping review aiming to identify, categorize, and summarize knowledge on how pain assessment processes in people with dementia living in nursing homes is described in the literature, focusing on how healthcare professionals can integrate self-reporting in the recognition, assessment, and evaluation of pain in this context. The scoping review will be designed in line with the six-stage methodological framework for scoping reviews developed by Arksey and O'Malley (2005), and the recommendations Levac et al. (2010) have proposed for each step in the framework.
