Description: Empirical studies have shown a reduction in conditioned fear to a higher-order CS after extinction learning to a fear-related first-order CS it signalled. However, little is known whether avoidance to a higher-order CS (CS-avoidance) would show a similar pattern after first-order CS extinction. In the present study, we examine whether costly CS-avoidance would decrease after first-order CS extinction.
