Wiki Version:
This repository includes the R code and all data reported in the paper. It also includes pdf files for the HPQ for chimpanzees, the rater report HPQ for humans, and the self-report HPQ for humans. There a few things are worth noting about the data and code provided: First, the data sets include data from scales that were not used in the study (I noted this in the paper). These scales include the Type D Scale-14 (Denollet, 2005) and the Empathy Quotient (Baron-Cohen & Wheelwright, 2004). I have left these in the data in case anybody wants to use them. Second, the code that creates the supplementary report on the sensitivity tests requires that the R file is run first. The .bib file is required for that to work, too. Third, procrustes.R was written by Mark James Adams (mja@ed.ac.uk). It performs a targeted orthogonal Procrustes rotation, such as described in McCrae et al. (1996). It was, in fact, a translation of the SAS code provided on page 566 of that article. Fourth, today (4 May 2022) I discovered a minor error in the analysis code. I have corrected the bug and uploaded a new version dated today. The older version of the code is still in the directory. Fifth, in preparing the final version of the manuscript to send to the journal, I discovered an error in my code: instead of e3 (assertiveness) I had a3 (trust). The errors have been fixed in the most recent code and the published paper will reflect the correct analyses.
