Wiki Version:
A large, multi-site test of self-administered mindfulness, effects on stress regulation among English speakers - Collaboration homepage **PROJECT TEAM:** This multi-site project was initiated by Alessandro Sparacio (PhD student, Swansea University and Université Grenoble Alpes), Gabriela Jiga-Boy (Supervisor, Swansea University), Hans IJzerman (Supervisor, Université Grenoble Alpes & Institut Universitaire de France), and Ivan Ropovik (co-supervisor, Charles University in Prague & Presov University). **PROJECT RATIONALE:** We aim to conduct the first multi-site investigation of the effects of self-administered mindfulness interventions on stress regulation. The objectives are: 1) To test which single brief self-administered mindfulness exercise has a demonstrated efficacy in terms of stress reduction, 2) To investigate whether the effectiveness of these exercises vary across populations, 3) To test trait anxiety as a potential moderator of the effect of self-administered mindfulness on reduction of stress levels. - To **read the Project Proposal**: See [here][2]. **GENERAL INFORMATION** **What is required of each contributing laboratory?** - Collect data from a minimum of 70 to 120 participants (The variability of N depends on the fact that we do not know how many labs we are able to recruit yet; the more labs we recruit, the fewer participants each lab will have to recruit). - Complete the data collection in the set time window (approximately from late fall 2021 until spring 2022). - Complete project-specific tasks. Ongoing tasks will be posted [here][3]; anyone can request the assignment of that task by putting his name in the cell "collaboration in charge", if that task is not assigned yet. **What is the timeline?** We intend to submit the pre-registered multi-site study before the summer of 2022. We have not yet chosen the target journal for this project. **How will the data collection be carried out?** To ensure the safety of participants (and investigators) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, data collection will be done exclusively online. Being fully online, participants will be able to access the experiment via a Qualtrics link that will be provided by the project leads. However, each collaborator is required to use a local sample (e.g., university subject pool). An investigator can also collect a local sample from a geographic location other than their own, if resources permit. Participants must be English speakers. **IRB (ETHICS) Submission:** In order to collect data for the project, all teams involved must provide us with an IRB (i.e., ethical committee) approval code or proof of exemption. To facilitate this process, we will prepare an IRB submission pack that you can use to apply within your institution. For most teams, only small adjustments to our IRB pack will be necessary for submission. We hope that minimizes the workload for you. Once we send you the IRB pack, we will ask you to: - Adapt our IRB pack to your institution (e.g., include the names, logos, format according to your institution's IRB requirements); - Submit the IRB proposal at your institution; - Upload your IRB approval on the OSF page of the project; - Update our project tracker. The IRB submission package will be added to this page soon. **I'm interested! How do I join the team?** - If you want to join our project, please **ask to be added to the** [Google Group][4]. This will serve as a collaboration-wide communication tool (basically a listserv, with an archive). Ensure you are signed up here, so you receive email updates. - Once your participation is approved in the Google group, please enter your name and the required information in our [list of collaborators][5]. **WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU!** *This page will be regularly updated as a one-stop source with information/deadlines/tasks for the teams involved. I will also email major updates. Please feel free to email me (Alessandro Sparacio) with any questions you may have (ale.sparacio92@gmail.com).* *Credit goes to **[Olivier Dujols][6]** for the multi-site project template.* [1]: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gw8tNb93KrfTr6qpct8kNMKSoha1Forv9ubDfKwN2co/edit [2]: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gw8tNb93KrfTr6qpct8kNMKSoha1Forv9ubDfKwN2co/edit?usp=sharing [3]: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YMjPl8Bl32N3xWfomZdo_YFTz-34qOV0Ax2sI3a_QSU/edit#gid=0 [4]: https://groups.google.com/g/mindfulness-multi-site [5]: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1m6WixDBA4ROVk4Zto5paatpaufAna2HMAYZ7ES8RuVs/edit#gid=0 [6]: https://osf.io/bc79d/
