Description: Recent research shows that trait curiosity may decline across the lifespan (Chu, Tsai, & Fung, 2020; Robinson, Demetre, & Litman, 2016). However, data from existing datasets also suggest that older adults may actually be more curious than younger adults when curiosity is elicited from trivia questions (Galli et al., 2017; Fastrich, Kerr, Castel, & Murayama, 2018). To address the contradictory findings, in this study, we will assess trait curiosity using common scales to assess curiosity (e.g., Epistemic Curiosity scale, Five Factor Inventory) as well as state curiosity as measured by ratings of curiosity to learn the answer to trivia questions that participants do not already know the answer to in a lifespan sample.
