Description: The present project investigates a constructional alternation currently under development in Mozambican Portuguese, namely the emergence in this variety of a new passive construction (Recipient passives) alongside its standard counterpart (Theme passives). Through a corpus-based multifactorial analysis, using random forests and conditional inference trees, the main goal of this paper is to demonstrate the systematicity of the variation.
