Description: A simple synthesis of a new self-immolative polymer, poly(DTT), is obtained by mixing DTT (dithiothreitol) and 2,2-DPDS (2,2-dipyridyl disulfide) at around 0 degrees of celcius. The disulfide backbone of the polymer makes it depolymerizable due to the thiol-disulfide exchange reaction that takes place when exposed to an external stimuli.
