Description: The Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC) allows for the systematic organization of care treatments performed by nurses. Its features include the estimation of the execution time of an intervention. Aim: to explore the evidence related to the use of NIC to identify and measure nurses' workloads. Methods: a scoping review was conducted in accordance with searches on the databases Ovid Medline, PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL, Scopus, LILACS and Cuiden. The descriptors DeCS/MeSH: "Standardised Nursing Terminology" and "Workload" were used. Search limits were set for English, Spanish and Portuguese. No limits were set for year of publication or type of study.
