R is a free, open-source statistical software package that is very popular among psychology
researchers for its flexibility in generating reproducible analyses and graphical output. This
workshop will introduce attendees to R and its integrated development environment (IDE),
RStudio. By the end of the workshop, attendees will be comfortable (a) entering, importing,
and manipulating data in R, (b) using add-on packages, (c) running core mathematical and
statistical analyses (e.g., t-test, ANOVA, regression), (d) carrying out graphical operations (e.g.,
scatter plots, path diagrams, interactive graphs), and (e) generating shareable, reproducible
code in accordance with open science practices. This will be a hands-on, interactive, and
inclusive workshop. Materials will be made available on the Open Science Framework (OSF)
before the workshop and can be accessed any time during and/or after the conference. This
workshop is intended for researchers across all disciplines who have no, or little, prior
experience with R/RStudio or users who wish to improve their grounding in the basics. We
recommend that attendees bring a laptop to the session (preferably with R and RStudio
installed).
