**Abstract:**
Previous work on English shows that locality, information structure, and semantic parallelism contribute to ambiguity resolution in stripping ellipsis. Yet, the relative importance of each factor is currently unclear. As cues to information structure and semantic parallelism are implicit in English, we turned to Persian which marks information structure overtly via word order scrambling and uses the -ra suffix to mark definiteness/specificity. Results from two offline studies show that information structure and parallelism strongly influence correlate resolution. Nevertheless, a preference for a local correlate emerged when the semantic parallelism was constrained by the grammar.
