Wiki Version:
This paper presents a syntax and semantics for an unusual relative clause construction in Spanish involving a relative clause seemingly headed by a gradable predicate and the neuter determiner 'lo'. Previous analyses have argued in favor of a treatment in terms of maximal degrees, but while intuitive, straightforward implementations of this idea run into trouble when combining the resulting definite degree (type d) with verbal predicates that do not typically combine with degrees. I propose an analysis wherein the relative clause itself is of predicative type but contains within it a maximal degree that serves as a Measure Phrase.
