Abstract from Manuscript
This experiment researches the affordances given to a request for health related problem solving in a gaming structure versus a task structure. Following the lines of cognitive reappraisal, prompting a gaming structure was proposed to have a high arousal- positive affect structure which in turn would boost self-efficacy. Results indicate a small negative effect of receiving a game prompt on self-efficacy, which is completely mediated by the expected difficulty of the game/task. No effects of the manipulation on positive affect were found.
