The experiment procedure is very similar to that of the [previous experiment][1], with the following exceptions:
* We will recruit 1000 subjects to get 100 per condition for our eight conditions at an exclusion rate of 20%.
* There are eight conditions in this experiment. instead of varying near/far, will vary above/below. The probes appear in one of the four positions used in experiment 5; 122 pixels above or below, and 122 pixels above or behind. However, rather than appearing when the player has crossed the halfway point of the display, they appear when the player has traveled 360 pixels (90 pixels shy of the halfway point). The probe appears and then begins moving at 240 pixels per second. It travels 244 pixels, and is onscreen for 1016.67 milliseconds. It can travel either horizontally (e.g. top-right to top-left) or vertically (top-right to bottom-right). Two directions of travel x four starting positions yields eight conditions total. If the player is moving continuously while the probe is onscreen, the probe will spend an equal amount of time behind the player and in front of them, if traveling horizontally, or an equal amount of time above and below them, if traveling vertically. As before, the probe can appear when the player is crossing left-to-right or right-to-left.
* Subjects are asked only about the motion of the unexpected object and its appearance when probing noticing.
