The Python program used for administration of the experiment can be found in files. The words used as stimuli can be found there as well.
The words were constructed from 12-letter long basque words extracted from R library "vwr" using the R script basque.R located in Files. The 12-letter words can be found in the file basque.txt. While most of the words would be unknown to Czech participants, some originating from other languages could have been familiar. We therefore processed the words using the words.py script, which randomly took first 3 letters from a random word from the sample, appended letters 4-6 from a random word from the sample, and similarly appended letters 7-9 and 10-12. To obtain 10-letter words, a random consecutive 10-letter string was taken from the created 12-letter words. The obtained words can be found in words2.txt file. From this file, we took the first 10 words to serve as practice words and next 120 words for the experiment. The number 120 was selected because each participant was presented 80 words during the decision phase of the experiment and then rated 40 words in terms of their pronounceability or existence in an existing language.

**Introduction**
The next experiment consists of two parts. In the first part, you will be presented with 40 "words". Your goal will be only to read them while they are shown to you. In the second part, you will be presented with randomly ordered 80 words, out of which half you had seen during the first part of the experiment and the other half will be new. During each trial, you will read a word and press SPACE to indicate that you read the word. Afterwards, you will be asked whether the word was presented in the first part of the experiment or whether you like the word. The question will be randomly chosen on each trial and answers (like / dislike or seen / not seen) will be randomly assigned to "S" and "K" keys. We are interested in your intuitive judgment, so your goal will be to answer the question as fast as possible.
You will be first given a few practice words to better understand the task.

Následující experiment se skládá ze dvou částí. V první části Vám bude prezentováno 40 “slov”. Vašim úkolem bude je pouze číst. V druhé části Vám bude prezentováno v náhodném pořadí 80 slov. Z těchto 80 slov bude polovina nových a polovina již dříve prezentovaných v první části. Vašim úkolem bude vždy slovo přečíst a následně zmáčknout MEZERNÍK. Po zmáčknutí MEZERNÍKu slovo zmizí a budete otázáni, jestli bylo slovo prezentováno již v první části nebo jestli se Vám slovo líbí. Otázka bude pro každé slovo vybrána náhodně a odpovědi (viděl / neviděl nebo líbí / nelíbí) budou náhodně přiřazeny k tlačítkům “S” a “K”. Zajímá nás Váš intuitivní úsudek, proto Vás žádáme, abyste odpovídali co nejrychleji.

**Practice Decision Making**
Your goal now will be to answer whether you saw the presented word during the first part of the experiment or whether you like the word. The question is chosen randomly on each trial. Depending on the question, you will be shown two options: either like / dislike, or seen / not seen. The options will be randomly assigned to the “S” and “K” keys. Pay close attention to the assignments, because the same key may represent different answers on different trials.
Each trial consists of two parts. First, you will be shown a word. You should read it and immediately after reading the word press SPACE. It is important for us that you press SPACE as fast as possible after having read the word. Once you press SPACE, the word disappears and you will be shown the two options. The option assigned to “S” key is shown always on left and the option assigned to “K” key always on right. We are interested in your intuitive judgment, so we would like to ask you again to answer as fast as possible.
While you may like or dislike most of the words, please make the judgment about liking in relation to the other words. That is, use both options approximately half of the time.
After indicating an answer by pressing the corresponding key, you will see the next sequence after a short pause.
In this practice you will see 10 words. Later during the experiment, you will be presented with 80 words.

Nyní bude Vaším úkolem odpovídat, zda jste zobrazené slovo viděli v první části nebo zda se Vám slovo líbí. Otázka je vybrána náhodně pro každé slovo. V závislosti na otázce Vám budou zobrazeny buď možnosti viděl / neviděl nebo líbí / nelíbí. Tyto možnosti budou náhodně přiřazeny k tlačítku “S” a “K”. Dávejte pozor na přiřazení tlačítek k odpovědím, neboť stejné tlačítko může reprezentovat opačnou odpověď u různých slov.
Váš úkol u každého slova se skládá ze dvou částí. Nejdříve Vám bude zobrazeno slovo. Jakmile ho přečtete, ihned zmáčkněte MEZERNÍK. Je pro nás důležité, abyste přečetli celé slovo a po jeho přečtení co nejrychleji zmáčkli MEZERNÍK. Po zmáčknutí MEZERNÍKu slovo zmizí a budou Vám zobrazeny dvě možné odpovědi. Odpověď přiřazená k tlačítku “S” bude vždy napsána vlevo a odpověď přiřazená k tlačítku “K” bude vždy vpravo. Zajímá nás Váš intuitivní úsudek, proto prosím odpovídejte co nejrychleji.
Ačkoli se Vám může většina slov líbit nebo nelíbit, hodnoťte každé slovo ve srovnání s ostatními slovy. Snažte se tedy používat obě odpovědi.
Po zmáčknutí tlačítka příslušícího Vaší odpovědi se po krátké pauze zobrazí další slovo.
V této zkušební fázi budete odpovídat na 10 slov. Během experimentální fáze budete odpovídat na 80 slov.
